Chapter 1 — The Invisible Limit

There are limits we can see. An empty bank account, a lack of opportunities, not having the resources we need, or living far away from the places where opportunities seem to exist. But there are other limits that are much harder to recognize because they are not outside of us. They are inside our minds.
For a long time, I did not understand that some of the things I considered impossible were not necessarily impossible. They were simply things I had never seen someone like me accomplish.
When you grow up in a small place, with limited resources and surrounded by people who are also trying to survive, it is easy to develop an idea of what your life is supposed to look like. Not necessarily because someone directly tells you that you cannot achieve more, but because that is what you see around you.
You start thinking that certain things are for other people. For people with more money. For people who were born in a big city. For people with better connections. For people who speak another language. For people who had better opportunities.
And without realizing it, you begin to build an invisible boundary.
The interesting thing about that boundary is that nobody has to build it for you. Over time, you can end up building it yourself.
That was one of the limits I had to learn to recognize in my own life.
