If You Would Have God Have Mercy on You, Have Mercy on One Another

I have always believed in the importance of being reciprocal with others. My mom always taught me about the Golden Rule, the ethical principle of treating others the way you want to be treated. If you want to be treated with love, treat others with love; if you want people to respect you, respect others; if you want people to be nice, be nice. That is how that rule or principle works.
This does not apply only to people; it also applies to our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. The more we trust and communicate with them, the more they bless us and answer our prayers. The nearer we get to our Heavenly Father, the more we are disposed to look with compassion on perishing souls.
Another principle related to this is the power of service. Mosiah 2:17 says that when we are in the service of others, we are in the service of our God. This is a powerful message because when we help our fellows, we are helping our Heavenly Father, and when we do His will, He blesses us, provides us guidance, and sends us the companionship of the Holy Ghost, which will help us make better decisions.
